![]() Then the problem is what to do when the 5x5 visible region moves past the 9x9 map boundary. It seems like you'll need to resend the whole 5x5 worth of data, but at a different offset in the 9x9, so the 5x5 has room to keep sliding (like picking up your mouse and moving it when you hit the edge of the mousepad). You don't need to resend the full entity data during that offset adjustment, just new positions, but even that seems like it would create a nasty loading effect. Instead of all entities and tile data shifting at once (meaning no visible effect, since the player character moves by the same amount as everything else), they will visibly teleport one at a time to the new positions. Most of these species are extinct and no longer active. Also, I'm unsure what happens to the camera when the server sends down a new position for the player's own character, but it's probably not anything pretty. ![]() Some groups will try to claim a spot of the map as their territory, this can end negatively, with the kicking out of any other species or fandom using the space. Others are known for stealing designs of other ponies or even each other, due to these reasons, many species end up in civil wars that usually end in stalemate with neither side claiming victory due to both civil war groups going extinct like most species. The most infamous group are the anonfillies however it is debated on whether they are considered a species or not. Some groups in Pony Town are extremely problematic and personally attack, scam, or attempt to grief other people outside of roleplay scenarios. Species Scouts are presumably larger in number since many scout groups usually have an animal-theme added to them. Species Regiments (as the name suggests) are species-regiment hybrids which function the same exact way as regiments but are species-based and are usually less-military like. The mass extinction event is a term used by players when referring to the slow downfall of species that began in around 2018-2019 when countless species went extinct without reason, it isn't clear on why this happened but it's believed that it has something to do with species-based custom servers, regiments and scouts spiking in popularity after 2019, however this "mass extinction event" has not taken out species as a whole, rather: it has simply reduced them in size and number. The main reason regarding why species go extinct is usually either species lacking players and slowly dying off or becoming too large and hated to not go extinct. Many species are known for often getting in territory wars with their neighbors and civil wars between themselves. Some can start out hostile towards others or themselves. A species can start off as innocent and welcoming, then slowly grow in number and become obnoxious or vice-versa. Their behavior can also vary and change over time. Species usually work in the following way: a large amount of the species appears on the game, and depending on where it goes afterwards, the species will either die off, become large and bothersome for other ponies around them, or live long enough to simply be widely accepted. The word "species" acts as an umbrella term for every creature in the game that isn't a pony, it's very likely that species were the very first type of groups to exist on Pony Town before regiments and scouts spiked in popularity. Shorks and Screes were possibly the first species to exist in the game. Species are unique Pony Town creatures that are mostly created and invented by players, however there are also canon species that are occasionally taken from the My Little Pony Franchise like for example: the changelings.
