Okay so I thought lets insert the RAM, I had a feeling of success for the first time I saw the bios. I contacted the MSI support and they told me to test some things (clear CMOS, reset BIOS nothing new), while I followed the instructions I came to a point where the LED was showing the DRAM. So I tested the new board + CPU + RAM and it did not start only the CPU LED was on and all fans were spinning. I learned that it is better to not build up the whole PC when receiving new hardware. Since the beginning the system never run more then 30 minutes stable. I bought an i5 6600k a Z170A Kraint Gaming board and 16GB G.Skill DDR 4 ram. If anyone is able to provide some information as to what is going on, that'd be greatly appreciated.I have the following problem. Yet none of these things have stopped the voltage from adjusting itself and ignoring the manual override. Lastly I figured that perhaps all these varying voltages were part of some of the other features. The only time it got a little higher was when I tested the motherboard's auto tweak, and it applied 1.5V for a period of 1 or 2 seconds before I immediately stopped the test and changed the settings back, but that wouldn't be enough to cause an increase in temps of 10 degrees, right? This is really quite concerning, I thought perhaps it was due to damage caused by overvolting or something, but my voltage never exceeded 1.344 during any of these tests. They are still reading at 80-85 degrees even though I'm using the exact settings as when it was reading 70-75 degrees. VCore still reading as 1.312V or 1.344V under load, frequency still showing at 4.6ghz. I booted back in and did the stress test on AIDA again, and everything was ALMOST back to normal. I presumed this was just because that displays the last used CPU voltage. However, I set the manual override to 1.31V again, but the value displaying to be overridden was still showing 1.312V rather than 1.298V as it was previously. So I changed my settings back to those of the stable overclock, because it had been hours and I'd had enough by that point. However, this time the temperatures were up in the range of 80-85 degrees, but the system was no longer stable (presumably because the voltage didn't increase to compensate). Now after booting, AIDA was still showing 1.312V at idle, and 1.344V while stress testing, regardless of the changes I made to the manual voltage setting. I adjusted to multiplier to 47x to see if I could reach 4.7Ghz. When I went back into the BIOS, I changed the manual override to 1.32V, which was now overriding a displayed value of 1.312V (the same number as in AIDA). I decided that seeing as these readings were acceptable, and the system passed plenty of stability tests that it was fine. This was giving me temperatures averaging around 70-75 degrees. When I stress test, this jumps up to 1.344V. Now what I expect to happen, is that the CPU will consistently be fed 1.31V, however, when I run HWiNFO64, AIDA64 or any of the other recommended monitoring tools on this site, the VCore is reading 1.312V. The value that was being overridden was 1.298V. I turn the CPU voltage mode onto manual, and set the manual override value to 1.31V. I then set it to manual mode, set the BCLK to 100MHz and the multiplier to be 46x synced across all cores. My CPU is the 6700k.Īt the most basic level, I reset the BIOS to the defaults, and open up the AI tweaker. For context, I have been doing all of my overclocking in the BIOS for this motherboard.
